We are a full-service animal hospital providing comprehensive pet healthcare services in El Cerrito, CA. Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suites, dental suites, and a pharmacy. We are committed to providing quality care at every stage of your pet's life.   • Dr. Manprit Buttar

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Buttar started El Cerrito Veterinary Care in July of 2019.

    Dr. Buttar has been practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1998 and in the Bay Area since 2006. Before moving to Bay area he practiced in Michigan, Ontario, Alberta and India.

    He completed his B.V.Sc (Veterinary Medicine) in 1998 in India, and after working there for more than 3 years, moved to Canada. He completed his ECFVG requirements in Canada (University of Guelph) and USA (Tuskegee). He practiced in Canada until 2004 before moving permanently to the United States.

    He has special interest in Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery and Dentistry. He is also experienced to handle pet emergency procedures. He has more than 21 years of experience handling surgeries, dentistry and veterinary emergencies.

    He looks forward to serving the community of El Cerrito, Kensington, Albany, Richmond, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, El Sobrante, San Pablo, other parts of East Bay and Bay area in general.

  • Dr. Heather Kriensky

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Kriensky joined El Cerrito Veterinary Care in November of 2019.

    Dr. Heather Kriensky, a native Californian, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, then went on to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1997 from UC Davis.

    She enjoys family time, hiking, traveling, watching classic movies, and eating her husband Boon’s gourmet cooking. Her pets include her beloved Shih Tzu Brunswick, rescued as a puppy, now 14 years old and kitty Thelma who was dumped as a newborn with her siblings and hand raised by Dr. Kriensky. She is thriving at 17 years old now.

    As a veterinarian, she is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of her patients, instilling trust and confidence in her clients. She provides thorough evaluations and explanations to help guide clients to make the best possible decisions for their pets.

  • Dr. Tara Fernandez

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Fernandez joined El Cerrito Veterinary Care in October of 2020.

    Dr. Fernandez was born and raised in the South Bay Area. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Cruz and then went abroad to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Prince Edward Island-Atlantic Veterinary College. After graduation, Dr. Fernandez practiced in Illinois for two years and has finally found her way back home to California. She is happy to be a part of El Cerrito Veterinary Care and enjoys forming bonds with both her clients and patients.

    Dr. Fernandez will be there for your pet at every stage, from their puppy/kitten visits, to helping them when they get sick, all the way to helping senior pets stay healthy in their golden years. Her special interests include Internal Medicine, Dentistry, and Palliative Care. She is also ‘Fear Free Certified’, meaning she will promote a calm atmosphere and minimize the stress of a veterinary visit as much as possible for you and your pet.

    In her free time, Dr. Fernandez enjoys spending time with her family/friends, sketching, reading, hiking, biking, going to the beach, and cuddling her mischievous orange tabby, Chester.
